Yesterday’s Workout: Lunchtime – 4.96 miles on
Treadmill/59:16min/5.0MPH
Yesterday was refreshing.
One of those days that I could live over and over. What made it so great you
ask? Day #1 at new gym. GOSH….it felt so good to be in a well lit, open
environment with working TVs. Unlike my basement where my treadmill is squished
between a sofa and my TV, that has chosen not to work whenever I want to run,
but works fine for hubs.
The people around me,
these were my people. Rocking out to whatever was in their earbuds, sweating,
huffing and puffing. Yesterday’s run was by far one of the easiest runs I’ve had in
a longtime. Oh, and did I mention the super clean shower/changing room? Yup!
Ok…I’ll stop gushing. But having such a nice gym environment definitely
contributed to me putting down 5 miles. It felt good….shaky legs and all.
I started reading a new book, based on a recommendation from Mara. I’ve been all about knowledge and looking smart(er) since hubmeister treated me to the Nook tablet for Christmas. It’s like the Nook color, but with more web stuff. So far I’m loving it and onto book #2 (along with my monthly subscription to Runner’s World). Back to the book…..
Run Like A Mother is
a funny, witty book written by to mothers who happen to love running and talk
about the life balance between running, changing diapers, making school lunches
and making sure you get quality “me” time. I have to say, I started running
again (I was a runner WAY before these munchkins took over my life) just for
that purpose: to have ME time. Then it evolved into so much more. One might
call it an addiction. I call it a passion.
I have related to
almost everything in this book, from dreading the 5am run but it’s the only
time I can get “me” time, to giving up running taking a break because
running has taken over my life and the kids haven’t bathed in 3 days (not
really…..OK maybe). It has actually inspired me to build a healthy balance
between the two.
So I’m trying to revamp the blog a bit. Kinda like the house cleaning I did the day after New Year’s day. Get rid of the 2011 clutter and start 2012 fresh. With the training plan, a new gym and really getting back to business (and that “me” time) I wanted a new look for the blog. I’m trying to find my frilly, girly side. You may see this blog go through a few different looks as I try to find the one that expresses what A Runner’s Road really is. And I am always open to any suggestions.
READING ANY BOOKS?
I just finished “Heaven Is For Real: A Little Boys
Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back”. Incredible book!
DID YOU GET A GIFT OVER THE HOLIDAYS THAT YOU ARE INFATUATED WITH?
Other than my Nook, my Michael Kors snake skin pocket book!

DOES THE WAY A BLOG LOOK INFLUENCE WHETHER YOU WILL READ THE
CONTENT?
I do tend to check out a blog that has a bit more character
to it. That said, I follow many that are plain as white paper but really get me
with the writing.
I like this look! I dont like when a blog has a font that is hard to read or colors that make it hard to read. I haven't read any good books lately either. Boo.
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding a look you like for your blog!
